Julian - Tactics

General Tactics

Julian is a strong character who shares many characteristics with Synbios. Unfortunately, Julian does not stay in Synbios' battalion until the end of the game; he leaves the force at the end of battle #14 in chapter 3. Julian has high attack and good defence as well as being speedy; if you train him well he will learn the Spark spell before leaving the game. When Julian leaves the force, he will take whatever items he was carrying with him to scenario 2 but they will also re-appear in Synbios' headquarters, effectively duplicating them. Therefore, give the best items to Julian before he leaves the force, especially those items that boost statistics.

Magic and Magic Resistance

Julian has the Return spell like Synbios, so while he is in the force you can risk using up all of Synbios' MP and still be able to return to the church when things get sticky. Towards the end of his time in scenario 1 Julian learns Spark which is quite effective at level 1 but not as great as it is at levels 2 and 3 so Julian doesn't really have much great magical strength to boast of in scenario 1.

Julian's magic resistance isn't amazing but is good enough to protect him during the period when he is part of Synbios' force.

Weapons and Equipment

Blades are Julian's choice of weapon, as well as his default weapon, and he is perfectly competent with them as he soon learns the first blade skill shortly after he joins. To make Julian a more effective fighter, start training him up with knives in scenario 1 to give him some long-range back up.
